Your media.
Your NAS.
lumento.
A simple, private way to bring the photos and videos on your NAS to the screens you actually use.
Built for your own storage — not another cloud. From your phone to your NAS.
From your NAS to anywhere at home.
lumento is being built as a small family of focused apps. Nothing is released yet, but this is where they're headed.
lumentoONE
The photo and video gallery for your NAS, in any folder you choose. Browse in a browser instead of over SMB, on anything from a current laptop to a 2013 smart TV. Old camcorder tapes and log footage play properly, projects like a printed calendar come together from the couch, and camera cards go straight into your archive through lumento STORE.
lumentoLOAD
Loads your iPhone's photos and videos onto your NAS, byte for byte, with no SMB or AirDrop, and tells you which ones are verified and on your NAS. Fast with the app open, fast with the phone locked (27 GB in 37 minutes in our tests), and each night while it charges.
lumentoSTORE
The archive on your NAS. Every file from your phone or camera card is checked byte for byte before it's accepted, named by when it was taken and filed by month in ordinary folders. Nothing already in it is stored again. Install one package, set a password, pick a folder, pair a phone.
lumentoKEEP
An eye on your NAS, in plain words. KEEP tells you when a backup fails or leaves a share out, and watches your photos for bit rot. It only reads your files, never repairs or writes. When a file has gone bad, it names it, finds the copy in your backup and checks that the copy is good.
loadMENTO
The protocol LOAD and ONE use to talk to STORE. It checks what the NAS already has before sending anything, sends large files in 8 MB chunks, hashes every file at both ends, and never stores a file whose hash doesn't match.
lumento? ? ?
lumento is what you get when lumen meets momento: light, and the moments it catches. Put those two together and things tend to happen. We're not announcing anything. We're just saying the family is still growing.
Quiet infrastructure
for your memories.
Four apps, one job each.
LOAD brings your photos and videos in.
STORE checks and files them.
ONE shows them.
KEEP watches for damage.
Each one works on its own, and together they cover the whole journey from your phone to the screen in your living room.
Your NAS, your folders, organized as you wish. Your memories as you remember them, as you recorded them. Old and new, from FlashPix to old camcorders, from HEIC to 4K. Ready to view however you like, archived with confidence.
Think of it as infrastructure. It's yours and yours alone, or shared with your family. Use LOAD to get your photos to your NAS all at once, or every night while your phone charges. Your photos are on the NAS, not only on the phone. STORE tells LOAD when a photo or video is verified and durable on your NAS. KEEP watches for bit rot. ONE ties it all together in a media viewer. None of them need ONE, but together they're ONE lumento FAMILY.
Keep your media server. LOAD your memories. STORE them. KEEP an eye on them.
Hidden means hidden.
If you have hidden a photo or a video on your iPhone, lumento LOAD does not see it, does not read it, and will never copy it to your NAS. Hiding it was your instruction, and the app treats it as one.
If you want something archived, unhide it first. That is the whole rule, and it is deliberate: everything else about LOAD is copy all means copy all — no curation, no screenshot detection, no second-guessing which of your photos deserve to be kept. A burst is twenty photos, not one. Your Hidden album is the single place where that stops.
This is a promise about how the app behaves, not a setting. There is no toggle that changes it.
Your files, not your phone's state.
Edit a photo or trim a video and both versions come across — the edit and the original. Shoot RAW and both halves of the pair come across. What does not come across is Apple's private edit recipe, the data that lets the Photos app re-open an edit and change it again.
That is iPhone state, not a memory. If you want to keep re-editing it, keep it on the phone. If you want the full iOS experience on every device you own, that is what iCloud is for. This is a NAS.
Two pieces, open to everyone.
The lumento apps stay closed, but two parts of them were written to be useful beyond lumento. 9Reg publishes both as open source, for anyone to use.
spake2p
SPAKE2+ (RFC 9383) for Rust, Go and Swift. It lets two devices that share a short code, such as a six-digit pairing code, agree on a key that nobody listening can guess. LOAD and STORE pair with it. MIT or Apache 2.0.
fpx-convert
Converts FlashPix (.fpx) photos, the 1990s Kodak format, into PNG or JPEG that any browser can show, keeping the camera model and capture date. ONE uses it. AGPLv3.
